Our Blue Planet
Seen from another world – let’s say Saturn – the earth appears as a little, blue dot. We live on this dot – so does everything and everyone we know and love.
More than 70% of our world’s surface is covered by water, but less than 1% of that water is readily available to humans. Water is a resource we – citizens of this blue world – cannot afford to waste.
In the United States alone, 36 states anticipate local to statewide water shortages by 2013. And across our world, nearly a billion people lack access to safe drinking water.
In order to preserve our planet’s cultures and environments, it is important that we understand our relationship with the water we use everyday: the water that colors our world.
