WaterSense® Makes Cents
WaterSense and its partners across the country helped Americans save 9.3 billion gallons of water and 1 billion kilowatt hours through use of WaterSense labeled products in 2008, the most recent reporting period. That translates to consumers realizing more than $55 million in water and sewer bill savings.
The WaterSense® Home? The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has made it easier for builders and home buyers to support water efficiency across the country with the WaterSense® Single-Family New Home Specification.
WaterSense labeled homes are similar to WaterSense labeled products. Qualifying requires a 20 percent reduction in water consumption than in typical new homes built to current code.
A WaterSense labeled home is independently inspected and certified by EPA licensed certification providers. These new homes feature WaterSense labeled plumbing fixtures as well as ENERGY STAR® qualified appliances, (if installed), water-efficient landscaping, and an efficient hot water delivery system. Builders can now be WaterSense partners, along with manufacturers.
